Overview:
Oscar’s Bistro is an independent café-bistro on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, inspired by the city’s Steel City heritage. We want a business card design that feels both classic and modern, something that would look equally at home on a fine linen napkin or a sleek steel countertop.
Design Goals:
Combine timeless elegance with a contemporary edge, blending vintage bistro charm with Sheffield’s industrial character.
Include a touch of humour, clever detail, or a small “Easter egg” that makes people smile or remember us, while keeping it tasteful.
Reflect the Oscar’s brand personality: refined, welcoming, a little witty, and proud of local craftsmanship.
Inspiration and Style Notes:
Colour palette: sage green, light fawn, white, and autumnal accents such as burnt orange and deep red. Alternatively, you may explore the earlier palette of black, silver, yellow, and red for a more metallic, industrial variant.
Fonts should balance classic readability (serif or clean sans-serif) with a touch of individuality.
You may include our tagline or something in that spirit, such as “Brewed. Baked. Beloved.” or “Where Steel City warms up.”
Feel free to experiment with materials and finishes, such as matte or gloss textures, metallic accents, embossed logos, double-sided designs, or a QR code linking to our menu.
Tone:
Elegant but not formal, confident but approachable. This should be a card you would happily hand to both a food critic and a regular customer.
